DETROIT (AP) — Hyundai is telling the house owners of nearly 1,600 Nexo hydrogen fuel cell autos in the U.S. and Canada to park them outside and away from structures attributable to the probability of fuel leaks and seemingly fires.
The Korean automaker is recalling the hydrogen-powered SUVs from the 2019 by means of 2024 model years.
Hyundai says in documents posted Thursday by U.S. security regulators that a stress reduction tool can spoil and trigger a hydrogen leak. That can even trigger a fireplace even while the SUVs are parked.
The firm says the SUVs can quiet be pushed but desires to be parked initiating air except repairs are made.
Hyundai says it has no experiences of fires anyplace across the globe.
House owners will be notified by letter starting Dec. 10. Dealers will change the stress initiating devices.
The automaker acknowledged in a statement that it’s doing the recall “to assemble obvious the safety of its customers.”
